Light & Neutral Cabinetry

No list of trending kitchen cabinetry colors would be complete without a mention of white, but there’s a new neutral on the scene that’s both earthy and intriguing. While white cabinets are a look that will never go out of style, we’re beginning to replace white cabinetry with more neutral warm colors like taupe, mushroom and ivory.  These color choices create a warm and inviting space with plenty of dimension.

If a client finds themselves leaning towards a neutral kitchen, we often encourage them to look for inspiration in the outdoors, which can mean incorporating wood stains or even raw wood into the design, giving a strong and alluring focal point.

Black Cabinetry

Black cabinets continue to grow in popularity and we predict its continued traction in the coming years. When paired with the right colors and materials, black cabinets do not feel dark and foreboding, but rather are an elegant and head-turning design choice you won’t regret. Black cabinetry pairs well with many design elements, like wood and stone.  Incorporating wood with dark cabinetry provides a striking contrast that truly emphasizes the beauty of black.  Similarly, if you love more muted cabinetry, black accents, like a hood for example, can act as a grounding element that helps balance the palette.

Two-Tone Cabinetry

Why settle for one color when you can showcase two?  One of the most popular design trends in the kitchen right now is using two-tone cabinetry.   A modern way to make your space feel more exciting, we are in favor of both contrasting colors on uppers and lowers as well as perimeter and island.  Pulling off this look can be as simple as finding two complimentary colors or incorporating a painted color with a stain color.  The options are truly endless when it comes to designing a space with two-tone cabinetry.

Dark Blue Cabinetry

Blue is still a hot color, but think deep, dark blues instead of pastels. Rich, vibrant tones like navy and black are ideal backdrops to make hardware and other kitchen elements pop. For that reason, it’s important to pay attention to the undertone of your blue cabinet paint color and compare it to the finishes and fixtures in your kitchen before giving your final stamp of approval.
